Nishiki Market – Kyoto (2017)

This time we were only in Kyoto for a day (arrived Friday night, left Saturday afternoon) for some personal business, so we only had a brief couple hours to be a tourist. That said, it was my first and only time finally visiting Nishiki Ichiba, despite not even being sure how many times I’ve been to Kyoto.

Girls in Kimono. 99.9% chance they are not Japanese….

The Japanese really love Snoopy. So does my mom. And heck so do I. Who doens’t? I wish we bought more things from the cafe/store!

This picture actually made me chuckle. It was really in the last 4-5 years that Japan began to use more English. Even in Tokyo, not all subway station signs were in English even by the second time I moved to Japan, in 2011. Now english signs & menu’s are ubiquitous. The prawn sign above isn’t even in Japanese! But if anything, I’m surprised there isn’t a Chinese sign. I guess its self explanatory though….

Needless to say, I stuffed myself with street food that day.

We were a bit tired, so we found a place to sit for a few minutes, in front of this store.

I thought I’d try some sneaky/candid street photo shots while resting. I took a whole bunch but most were pretty bleh.

And since stuffing ourselves with street food wasn’t enough, had to top it off….

Kyoto is great for buying little bits and bobs for reasonable prices. Just follow the tourist trail! (And bring your wallet)….
